AppTrigger Selects Continuous Computing’s Trillium Diameter Protocol Software to Support IMS Applications

Comprehensive Telecom Software Integrated Into AppTrigger’s Ignite Application Session Controller Protocol Engine to Accelerate Time to Market and Enable IMS-Enhanced Functions

SAN DIEGO – September 17, 2007 – Continuous Computing®, global provider of integrated systems and services that enable telecom equipment manufacturers to rapidly deploy Next Generation Networks (NGN), today announced that AppTrigger, Inc., a leading developer of application connectivity solutions for the telecom marketplace, has selected Continuous Computing’s Trillium® Diameter protocol software to facilitate its support of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture. Trillium Diameter base protocol, along with an assortment of additional Continuous Computing protocol stacks, provided the offline / online charging information and policy management signaling necessary for AppTriger to extend its Ignite Application Session Controller (ASC) to support IMS networks. The AppTrigger Ignite ASC is a purpose-built network element which simplifies the delivery of new applications, as well as the migration of legacy applications into the IMS network, and provides a platform to develop new applications that reuse standardized functions such as presence and location information.

Trillium Diameter protocol software was integrated into AppTrigger’s Ignite protocol engine, a key component of AppTrigger’s technology. The addition of Trillium Diameter allows AppTrigger’s Ignite ASC to provide critical user profile and information updates and features for IMS applications. This includes ensuring the user is authorized to utilize the requested service and is billed for its use, as well as retrieval of subscriber information to be used by the end application. The addition of Trillium Diameter into the AppTrigger Ignite ASC ensures a fully-compliant IMS solution, which is important to carriers deploying advanced services.

“IMS technology continues to become widely adopted, hence Trillium Diameter protocol software caters to an important emerging market in this space,” said Chris Todd, chief executive officer at AppTrigger. “Continuous Computing was the best choice for us as the company possesses expertise in Diameter, as well as IMS technology overall, and has built a reputation for providing quality code and on-time delivery. These strengths are key in enabling our customers to rapidly deploy their applications and meet timely market demand.”

AppTrigger’s Ignite Application Session Controller software architecture features IN-SCS (Intelligent Network – Service Capability Server) functionality for evolving large-scale legacy IN applications into IMS network architectures. IN-SCS functionality enables service providers to bridge the gap by ensuring their existing voice-centric IN applications, such as pre-paid and voice messaging, are able to work within the IMS networks. Application developers who utilize Ignite are able to provide a more lucrative and complete solution to enable future-proof, transparent delivery of services across evolving and converging networks and can compete more effectively and expand their overall market. Extending these capabilities into IMS networks with Trillium Diameter software was critical for AppTrigger as IMS is rapidly becoming the foundation for application innovation in telecommunications.

“AppTrigger’s Ignite Application Session Controller, with its newly-enhanced IMS features, is a dynamic product that allows customers to overcome challenges from the ever-evolving IP network,” said Mike Dagenais, chief executive officer at Continuous Computing. “AppTrigger’s decision to use our Trillium Diameter protocol software firmly positions Continuous Computing as one of the critical architects of the new all-IP network.”

Trillium Diameter protocol software is a standards-based implementation of the Diameter protocol that includes support for all Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), 3GPP2, and European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) Telecommunications and Internet converged Services and Protocols for Advanced Networking (TISPAN) IMS interfaces. In addition, the Trillium Diameter solution is a comprehensive software package comprised of the core protocol stack supported by an innovative set of development tools that simplify and accelerate development. As a result, Trillium Diameter software facilitates accelerated time-to-market, lower development costs, and reduced project risk and complexity. Trillium Diameter is based on the consistent TAPA® (Trillium Advanced Portability Architecture) foundation to ease integration, along with modular design and simple interfaces, which can be ported easily into any environment under any operating system.
